RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars (2x01) 'Talent Show Extravaganza' - Liveblog + Discussion
  • We all know the entrances are one of the best parts!
  • I like how Katya went with a similar look to her previous one, but it probably won't stand out among the crowd too much.
  • I get what Detox was going for, but I liked her first-time outfit so much more.
  • Alyssa never fails to make me laugh haha. She's so iconic.
  • I honestly hope Phi Phi has truly grown and changed. I wanna give her a chance.
  • Yes Ginger I love the bodysuit and I know you're a good actress but I just don't like you.
  • Roxxy's makeup/look hasn't really developed much, but I do love the dress.
  • I mean, is Coco really here for any other reason than the Alyssa of it all?
  • ALASKA MY QUEEN. HIIIII!
  • I really hope Tatianna got herself a good wardrobe now. Otherwise she's on the first bus home.
  • I LOVE ADORE DELANO WITH ALL MY HEART.
  • Lip sync for your legacy!
  • BITCH BETTER HAVE MY MONEY.
  • Haha Katya!
  • THE LIBRARY IS OPEN.
  • Haha Phi Phi is doing pretty well.
  • VENUS DLITE HAHAHA.
  • Haha Detox.
  • Katya's shade is so inventive haha!
  • Erm, Coco...what?
  • Okay that was good Ginger!
  • Haha, Tati did okay.
  • FILLER BITCH HAHA.
  • Roxxxy omg, straight in there.
  • Hahahahaha Alaska is incredible.
  • Ooh, talent show? So...what is Roxxy/Tati gonna do?
  • I knew Rolaskatox would get brought up again.
  • Haha! Don't judge the a capella til you hear it!
  • David Cassidy! Ha!
  • Well yeah, she was on American Idol.
  • Roxxxy hunnie, you're no Adore.
  • (I mean the trailer already told us what the twist was regarding eliminations...)
  • Yeah I've seen some of Phi Phi's stuff post-race and it's good.
  • I'm glad Roxxxy recognised her mistakes.
  • Mama Ru always looks so amazing.
  • Yay Todrick Hall!
  • Adore is such a babe. So talented!
  • Alyssa hunnie, why aren't you dancing?
  • Oh there we go! Work it girl!
  • I just don't feel like Coco is at the calibre of some of the others.
  • I like the glow paint Detox. At least it was a performance!
  • Ginger has a good voice, started a bit slow but she sold it.
  • Honestly Katya is freakin amazing.
  • Phi Phi, it was brave. Not perfect but I applaud you.
  • Burlesque, okay! DOUBLE WIG'S BACK.
  • Haha, I've never been a massive fan of Alaska's 'singing'. She's definitely an entertainer and hilarious though!
  • ...okay Tati I might be buying what you're selling.
  • Eliminating each other!
  • Haha Alyssa in shock.
  • Michelle shut up, Adore's hair is amazing.
  • Like honestly, I'm gonna say it. Adore doesn't need this show. She's rocking it out there.
  • Haha Ginger.
  • Yeah I think Phi Phi's dress is cute.
  • Roxxxy honestly impressed me.
  • Haha, Tati.
  • The nails are so Alaska to be fair.
  • I just don't think this show completely gets Adore's style. It doesn't have to, I get it. But I don't think she needed to come back.
  • I mean honestly, Coco gotta go.
  • Thank you reasonable Alaska!
  • I agree with Tati, I don't agree with all the judges comments.
  • Yeah I'm worried about strategic kicking off and alliances.
  • I don't want Phi Phi to go yet.
  • Ooh, Tati scares me.
  • Adore, baby.
  • Coco, you did need to be more. I hated your act.
  • BIANCA PICKED IT.
  • I never want Adore to feel defeated. Because she's so talented.
  • I love this lipstick box thing!
  • This is tough! I think I like Roxxxy's performance more.
  • Now who's going home?
  • YES ROXXXY. THE RIGHT CHOICE.
  • Wait what's happening?!
  • REVENGE?!

Being serious here, I had to take some time to mellow after this episode because I've been so mad at Michelle. I know that's a very popular opinion right now, but I think the criticism of her behaviour is justified. The main challenge was a talent show, and Michelle didn't say one thing about Adore's talent. Not only that but she didn't give her any constructive criticism on how to improve for next time. It just felt like an attack, and the fact that it really hurt Adore's confidence and made her question if she belonged there made me so sad. I know this was filmed a year ago, and it's all water under the bridge now, but I have to discuss it. Michelle is there to judge, yes. But the important part of that judging is guiding the girls to be better. None of Michelle's horrible comments made Adore better, they just made her feel awful. I know her style isn't what they typically celebrate on Drag Race, but the show is supposed to be about embracing everyone's style of drag, and that includes Adore's grunge because she's talented as hell at what she does. Did I love her dress? Not completely. But I loved her hair and makeup and I could tell how much that song meant to her to perform and they barely mentioned it (except you Todrick, thank you babe!). It just felt wrong. And I don't think Adore needed to come back to this show, I think they needed her for ratings because she's the fan favourite. She's done very well for herself post-Drag Race, she didn't need a redemption arc or more exposure, and she definitely didn't deserve to be treated like that.

Now, onto happier things. I really loved seeing everyone back on my screen in this environment. And I loved seeing Roxxxy, Phi Phi and Tatianna's growth in particular compared to how they were in their original seasons. I think Roxxxy and Phi Phi are both incredibly talented but were caught up in the competitive nature of the experience last time, whereas now they both just want to prove themselves to the public that they do have what it takes, they are good people and their talent deserves to be appreciated. When it comes to Tati, I knew she was talented back in Season 2, her Britney Spears is still incredibly iconic, but her wardrobe looked so cheap that I kept waiting for her to go home because almost everything she wore made me cringe. She's stepped up her game so much, she's so much more sure of herself now and I can't wait to see what she does in the competition.

I'm over Ginger to be honest. While she's a great actress and performer, and I thought she was pretty sweet at first her season, I realised by the end her shade tends to have a very real and bitter side to it. And she showed that off straight away by coming in and saying all you needed to win was a corset. Violet is one of the only queens that won that I was backing to win, because she's incredibly inventive when it comes to runway and she's completely dedicated to her aesthetic and being the best she can at it. Was she a great actress? No. But she proved herself to be, in my opinion, the stand-out of her season, and for Ginger to still be snippy about that annoys me. While her singing in the talent show was okay, I thought the song was a little lacklustre and I didn't like her look. In fact, I would've probably put her in the bottom 3 instead of Adore.

Alyssa never fails to make me laugh, and I can't wait to see what Katya bring to this competition this time. I don't think anyone is more determined to win this than Alaska (and god knows I'd love her to do it). Detox always seems like she's having the most wonderful time and I'm really liking how most of the girls are interacting with one another, you get to see dynamics you've never seen before.

Although I like the twist of the winner of the lip sync having to send somebody home, I feel like that's going to cause some issues as to whether the worst person actually did go home or not in the coming weeks. Plus, with this twist, do the judges actually have much of a purpose? It actually just struck me that the plot twist at the end of the episode in which RuPaul told Coco she could get her revenge could almost be like Survivor. Now that they're voting each other off, maybe the eliminated queens will show up at the end and hold some power over who wins. If one of those finalists voted off one or more of the other queens, maybe they won't give them the vote to win. But I'm sure all will be revealed in due course!
